Saucy Showtime: Nurse Jackie

I have seen the first episode of Nurse Jackie, and I can only describe it as dark, dirty and delicious. If you’re a fan of shows like Dexter, Weeds, Breaking Bad, Rescue Me or Six Feet Under…this is the series for you.

The very talented and entirely watchable Edie Falco (The Sopranos) is Nurse Jackie Peyton, a veteran of the ER who seems to care more about the patients than the doctors do. But she is certainly battling her own demons while maintaining that tough-as-nails exterior at work; there are a few twists that hooked me in and are intriguing enough to merit a TiVO Season Pass in our house.

Nurse Jackie co-stars Peter Facinelli (Twilight), Dominic Fumusa (As the World Turns), Paul Schulze (The Sopranos), Haaz Sleiman (The Visitor), Merritt Wever (Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip), Anna Deavere Smith (The West Wing) and Eve Best (Vital Signs).

By the way, kudos to whomever created the advertising campaign
for this show. This is a great promo and poster:

Nurse Jackie premieres next Monday, June 8 at 10:30pm PT. But you have two opportunities to watch the first episode beforehand; here on Sho.com and at select local theaters this Wednesday!

I will be posting a full review of the first episode later this week on TVOvermind.
