Live-Blogging the 2008 Emmys, Part 4

I forgot that as part of my awards show ritual, I was supposed to be drinking champagne. Doh!

Speaking of doh!…The Simpsons.

Is it wrong that I think about Nancy Cartwright’s $10 million dollar donation to Scientology every single time I hear Bart’s voice now?

Conan O’B. I wonder what kind of product he uses to make his hair…do that.

Supporting Actress in a Drama Series:

OH MY GOD, I love the Katherine Heigl dig. LOL and YES.

Candice Bergen. Ok.

Rachel Griffiths – I love her on Brothers & Sisters!

Sandra Oh – I love her too, but it wasn’t her year.

Dianne Wiest – always stellar.

Chandra Wilson – crossing fingers for her victory.

Emmy: wow, Dianne Wiest. Too bad she could not be there to accept it.  I need to TiVO In Treatment.

I smell a trend…veteran actors are on a roll (Jean Smart and now Dianne Wiest).

J Love & Hayden Planetarium? What an odd combo.

Writing: Music, Variety or Comedy

Colbert Report, Daily Show, Conan, Letterman, SNL.

LOL, Dr. Phil! Who knew.

LOL again, SNL Wii characters.

Emmy: Colbert Report.

This is the moment where I admit one of my pop culture failures; I never watch any of those shows until someone I know or absolutely love is a guest. Except for SNL.

JJ Abrams alert! Nice to see him there, assuming it’s to represent Lost should it win Best Drama.

I. Can’t. Stand. Howie. Mandel. DEAL HIM.

And, we’re saved by Steve Martin. Love him. Miss him. Psyched that he’ll be on 30 Rock this season!

Oh – he and Dianne Wiest can begin a Parenthood reunion. Now THAT was a great comedy and film.

He should host the Oscars again. And the Emmys.

Tommy Smothers looks pretty good. Nice of them to give that award.

Is Christian Slater there only because he has a new show? Do you think that these stars are forced to attend and pimp their wares? It’s probably the schwag.

Did Tina Fey ditch the glasses to disassociate herself from Palin? Will she only wear them on the show now?

Truth is…what you get other people to believe.

Amen, brother.
