Live-Blogging the Golden Globes, pt 12

Freida Pinto &…I won’t attempt to misspell his name.  He is a Bollywood star.

Best Picure nominee: Slumdog Millionaire.

Cameron Diaz and Mark Wahlberg…who exec produces Entourage, not In Treatment. Last time I checked.

Best Actress, Film:
Anne Hathaway
Angelina Jolie
Meryl Streep
Kristin Scott Thomas
Kate Winslet

Winner: KATE WINSLET!! Holy sh*t, a double victory. YES!!!!

I can’t possibly love her more. In a non-stalker way.

They should have cut to commercial there. It was perfect.

Ah yes, Rainn Wilson and Gossip Girl girl.

Best TV series:
Dexter
House
In Treatment
Mad Men

Winner: Mad Men

Horrible presentation, deserving victory. Of course I still can’t believe that Lost wasn’t nominated.

Note to AMC: please keep Matthew Weiner as the showrunner. Mad Men wouldn’t be the same without him.

Salma Hayek. GORGEOUS.

Best Picture nominee (comedy/musical): Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

Anyone else think that Javier Bardem is a hotter version of Jeffrey Dean Morgan?

Best Film (musical/comedy):
Burn After Reading
Happy Go Lucky
In Bruges
Mamma Mia
Vicky Cristina Barcelona

Winner: Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

I really need to rent this.

Wow, this was a boring entry. Apologies.

Martin Scorsese, presenting Spielberg with the award. I was going to fast forward to try and catch up, but I can’t.  I own and love so many of his films.

Ugh, except for Transformers (which I had forgotten he co-produced).

YES! I am caught up w/the TiVO.

Love Emma Thompson. Recently watched The Graduate again. Little Dusty, so cute.

Best Director:
Slumdog Millionaire
The Reader
Benjamin Button
Frost/Nixon
Revolutionary Road

Winner: Danny Boyle, Millionaire! Very cool. He directed the hell out of that film. Refreshing, colorful, heartwarming, gut-wrenching.

Sigourney Weaver. Where have you been?

Best Picture nominee: Revolutionary Road.

Sandra Bullock. Hi.

Best Actor, film (musical/comedy):
Javier Bardem
Brendan Gleason
Colin Farrell
Dustin Hoffman

Oh please don’t sing, Pierce.

Best Picture nominee: Mamma Mia.

Is it true that Mamma Mia outsold The Dark Knight on DVD? I DON’T GET IT. Loved ABBA as a kid, but that film was pretty horrible.

Is P Diddy only known as Sean Combs at awards shows?

Best Original Score:
Benjamin Button
Changeling
Defiance
Slumdog Millionaire (my pick)
Frost/Nixon

Winner: Slumdog Millionaire

Love it! Bought the soundtrack immediately after seeing the movie.

Jane Krakowski & Duchovny. Most of you know how I feel about all things X-Files, but wow it is challenging to look at him as Mulder now or ever again.

AWKWARD, party of two.

Best Actress in a TV series (musical/comedy):
Christina Applegate
America Ferrera
Tina Fey
Debra Messing
Mary Louise Parker

Winner: Tina Fey. Get out your brooms, NBC.  A well-deserved sweep.

Sidenote: my friend just texted that she’d (and I quote) “do more than get a smoothie with Tina Fey.” LOL.

Tina Fey kills me. Hilarious.  But seriously, I’d just want to chat over a Jamba juice with her.

Renee Zelwegger. There are no words…

Best Picture nominee: The Reader. I really need to see that.

Megan Fox & Terrance Howard.

I’m just going to go there…many men feel that Fox is the hottest woman on the planet. I submit for your consideration in that category: Olivia Wilde.

When I look at these two, I think: girl who is marrying Brian Austen Green and dude who won’t be in Iron Man 2.

Best Actor, TV miniseries or film:
Ralph Fiennes
Paul Giamatti
Kiefer Sutherland
Tom Wilkinson
Kevin Spacey

Winner: Paul Giamatti.

It IS going to be a John Adams sweep again. Well done, Tom Hanks and HBO.

Glenn Close & Laurence Fishburne.

Best TV series (musical/comedy):
30 Rock
Californication
Entourage
The Office
Weeds

Winner: 30 Rock. Insert happy face here.

Can we discuss how awkward that scene was with Duchovny?

OMG, Tracy Morgan. Hysterical.

Gerard Butler. Yeah, I prefer you in 300 and not crap romance fare. I’m just saying.

Best Picture (Comedy/Musical) nominee: In Bruges.

Elizabeth Banks & Seth Rogen. Oh boy.

Rogen is skinny. It’s odd. Overweight fanboys everywhere are now online, ordering Wii Fit.

What’s with all of the coke jokes?

Best Screenplay:
Slumdog Millionaire
Frost/Nixon
Benjamin Button
Doubt
The Reader

Winner: Slumdog Millionaire. Nice! LOVED that film. If you haven’t seen it yet, go. Now.

Amy Poehler & McDreamy. Interesting pair.

Best Actor, TV series (musical/comedy):
Alec Baldwin (my pick)
Steve Carrell
Kevin Connolly
David Duchovny
Tony Shaloub (is he wearing a sparkly scarf?)

Winner: Baldwin. When he channeled Tracy Jordan’s dad, I knew he’d win again.

I want to get a smoothie with Tina Fey. That is not a euphemism.

Deal or No Deal? Nope, just Accounting with their cases.

Live-Blogging the Golden Globes, pt 6

Best Picture nominee: Frost/Nixon.

Colin Farrell…who promptly induced an ‘ugh’ from us in unison.

I could not get through In Bruges and do not understand the hype.

Best Foreign Film:
Baader Meinhof Complex
Everlasting Moments
Gomorra
I’ve Loved You So Long
Waltz with Bashir

Winner: Waltz with Bashir

Sidenote: NOT classy to make reference to your previous drug habit, Colin. Yikes.

Aaron Eckhart & Maggie Gyllenhaal. She’s towering over him.

Best Actress in TV series or movie:
C Keener
L Linney
S McClaine
S Sarandon
J Dench

Winner: Laura Linney. YES!  Like Winslet, she has nominated many times but rarely wins. I don’t get it. Stellar.
