AGAIN, SERIOUSLY?

I don’t think that many people care anymore, let alone those of you who read this blog (zero comments so far on this issue), but I am both entertained and mortified by Isaiah Washington’s decision to continue opening up to the press.

Here is the latest:
http://www.keithboykin.com/arch/2007/06/22/exclusive_isaia

Last week, he suggested that TR Knight should have been fired from Grey’s Anatomy instead of him. And now he is suggesting that TR Knight created and executed the first half of a major conspiracy to have both Washington and Patrick “McDreamy” Dempsey removed from the show.

Holy sh*t.  I used to work in PR, and it is quite obvious that he either ignored or failed basic Media Training. Miserably.

I realize that this is a sensitive and controversial issue, but I would love to know what YOU think because I feel like a party of one as I react to each asinine statement that comes out of Washington’s mouth.

Bring it on.

NEW PUBLICIST FOR DR. BURKE, STAT! ISAIAH WASHINGTON STRIKES AGAIN

To borrow a popular phrase from Grey’s Anatomy…seriously??

The following quotes come directly from Isaiah Washington, in today’s Houston Chronicle.

“They fired the wrong guy.”

“I was not fired for making homophobic slurs. I did
everything I said I would do. I offered to go to counseling, to do a
public service announcement. I wanted everyone to know I was
remorseful.”

So let me get this straight (no pun intended) – he thinks that TR Knight should have been fired instead. Wow.

Washington should fire his publicist because allowing him to continue commenting on this matter is certainly not going to improve his image or career. Nor will that empty threat of a lawsuit.

His insincerity is painfully obvious and his persistent denials to the media illustrate a high level of desperation.

I, for one, will never support any of his future endeavors on the small or big screen.

This will not be the last time I address this particular subject. Clearly.

LEVELS OF OBSESSION; MAINTAINING A ‘LOST’ LIFE

Here’s the thing. I’m trying my best to avoid reading any spoilers about the season finale of Lost. I actually want to be surprised, and enjoy every twist and turn. It is very challenging. People are sending me links and spoilers are everywhere. But so far, so good.

Many people laugh at the amount of time I spend watching and writing about Lost, but I prefer to think of it as a hobby. It is not an obsession; it is a television show that appeals to my detail-oriented nature and inner conspiracy theorist.

There are many levels of fanaticism, and I exist in the lower echelons of the extremely passionate fanbase. Trust me, I read other Lost blogs after I post mine each week. There are some VERY dedicated fans who either analyze the show for a living or don’t sleep at night. I do not frequent or comment on message boards, and my site is not solely focused on just Lost. I’ve never referred to myself as a Jater (Team Jack + Kate) or Skater (Team Sawyer + Kate).

Am I justifying my interest? No. Would I attend a Lost convention? Yes. But I wouldn’t wear a costume.

Is it Wednesday yet?

I’M SUCH A GUY SOMETIMES; I LOVE GADGETS, SCI-FI & SUPERHEROES

While I wait for Lost tonight, I thought I’d babble on about various topics.

CELL PHONE

I got a new one…a serious upgrade from my sorry little flip-phone (which was so 2004). I am a smidge geeky, so 24/7 access to email and the Internet is kind of exciting. It’s the black Motorola Q (Verizon), and it’s my new baby.

I definitely need to add some ringtones, and I’m on a search for The Office theme. Do any of you know where I can find it?

HEROES vs. LOST

I truly believe that the freshman year of Heroes might be the best first season of any show on television that I’ve ever watched from start to finish.  Of course Lost is the love of my pop culture life, and they win for Best Pilot Episode Ever, but the entire season of Heroes has been stellar. I don’t actually yell at the TV, or feel confused and/or frustrated each week when I watch that show.  As much as I enjoy obsessing over Lost, I find Heroes to be a refreshing and quite satisfying change of pace.

THANK YOU

Thank you to everyone who responded to my last blog. I wasn’t sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised by the number of comments, and also by the support from people I haven’t even met! The majority of folks who actually read this blog are friends and family, who then forward it on to their friends, but I didn’t want to assume that all responses would be positive. Let’s just say that I was a little anxious after I posted that entry.

To clarify, I’ve actually been ‘out’ since 1993. I’ve just never mentioned it online, because it wasn’t relevant to anything I’d written before. But now it’s out there, and so am I. So stay tuned, and thank you very much for reading.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go pretend I have a life but really just prepare for my LOST Wednesday night.

- Jo
